A large house fire Monday prompted the Town of Beloit Fire Chief to postpone the fall burning season until Oct. 9. Fire Chief Gene Wright decided to delay the start of fall burning after the recent warm weather and dry conditions in the area, as well as a large house fire Monday afternoon that "It's just that time of year where a small fire with the winds and the dry, it's going to turn into a large fire," Wright said. Firefighters from 15 departments in Wisconsin and Illinois responded to the fire on Erin Circle around 2:30 p.m. Monday.
