Youth to discuss civil rights trip

A Janesville church youth group will discuss its summer mission trip to Memphis, Tennessee, in the latest installment of Courageous Conversations at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28, at Community Action, 20 Eclipse Center, Beloit. Members of the First Congregational United Church of Christ's youth group will speak, with discussion led by Jamie Dieckhoff, the church's coordinator of child and youth ministries.

Beloit police search for suspect in shooting

Beloit police say two people suffered gunshot wounds after multiple shots were fired in the 500 Block of 8th Street. Through an investigation, police say they have identified 24-year-old Andy Davis, of Beloit, as a suspect.

Police: Man pressured girls for photos

But police say he was a Beloit 20-year-old whom they believe downloaded child pornography on his phone and blackmailed other teens into sending him intimate photos of themselves. The Janesville girl had sent him intimate photos, too, but her parents found out and told police in March, according to a criminal complaint filed in Rock County Court last week.

CITY OF BELOIT Authorities are looking for two people involved in an early Saturday morning shooting that has left a 19-year-old Rockford woman in critical condition. A 29-year-old Beloit man was also shot - in his behind - but is expected to be okay.

Man arrested for fifth OWI in Whitewater

Rock County sheriff's deputies arrested a Beloit man Wednesday morning on a charge of fifth-offense operating while intoxicated after he admitted driving to his girlfriend's home, according to a news release. At about 4:15 a.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to a domestic incident at 5627 N. Lima Center Road, Whitewater, and arrested Monte D. Dozier, 35, according to the release.

Search underway for a man in the Rock River in Town of Beloit

They're asking everyone to stay clear of all rescue personnel on the river and find an alternate route around the Newark Bridge. Federal investigators say the pilot of a seaplane that crashed on Lake Winnebago in eastern Wisconsin last month, killing himself and a passenger, tried to take off for Minnesota despite warnings about rough water.

Water rescue deployed in Beloit

Multiple fire and rescue departments responded to a report of a missing person in the Rock River on Tuesday evening. The incident was reported at 6:01 p.m. A caller reported seeing a person go into the water from the Newark Road bridge in the town of Beloit, said Derek Ninmer of the Rock County Communications Center.

Janesville woman charged with fifth OWI

A Janesville woman was arrested on a charge of fifth-offense intoxicated driving Thursday in the town of Beloit, according to a criminal complaint. Cynthia J. Bonavia, 48, of 2211 Meadowlark Drive, Janesville, was arrested at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday after stopped on Waterford Court, according to the complaint.
