Two charged in connection with Beloit attempted homicide

Beloit police say they have arrested two suspects for a shooting during an attempted robbery on April 1 in Beloit. Keonte A. Howard, 24, and Keshawn C. Falls, 17, were charged Monday in Rock County court with attempted homicide and recklessly endangering safety, as well as other felony charges for the shooting at 919 10th St. "Our officers did an excellent job arresting all of these individuals.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said it was evaluating a section of Interstate 39/90 after a semi crashed into a concrete barrier while entering a work zone Tuesday morning. The crash happened near mile marker 184 around 1:15 a.m., according to Wisconsin State Patrol.

The Town of Beloit Police Department arrested Brandi H. Vangemert and John R. Stout after they fired shots out of a car. No one was hurt during the shooting, and it appeared the two suspects were shooting into the air or an empty field.

The Town of Beloit Police Department responded to a shots-fired called in the area of Cleophas Road and Paddock Road at 10:36 a.m., according to a news release. Shots were reportedly being fired from a vehicle.

Man who died in Highway 81 crash identified

The man who died in Sunday's crash in the town of Newark was Richard J. Ward, 73, of Beloit, the Rock County Medical Examiner's Department announced. The single-vehicle crash was reported to authorities around 7:10 p.m. Sunday in the 9600 block of Highway 81. Ward was the driver and sole occupant of the pickup truck that went off the road and hit an object, according to a news release.

Beloit police respond quickly, arrest four in home burglary

Beloit police responded to the 1100 block of Dewey Avenue around 10:30 p.m. Sunday for reports of a burglary in process, according to a Facebook post. According to the post, four individuals, Keonte Howard, 24; Amari Edwards, 17; a 16-year-old teenage boy; and 13-year-old teenage boy; were arrested at the scene.

School referendum defeated by two votes; recount planned Monday, April 9

BELOIT, WI - Beloit Turner School District Director of Businesses Services Brad Boll says a voter filed a petition for the recount Monday morning. Boll said others are expected to come forward to dispute the tally in a two vote loss of the $26.8 million dollar question last Tuesday.
