The crash happened just before 10:00 p.m. Thursday at the five-points intersection near West Milwaukee Street and West Court Street. The officer was heading west on Milwaukee and according to witnesses, had the green light.

Man who thought images of naked children were not porn is sentenced to probation

A Janesville man who said he didn't know the images of naked girls on his computer were illegal was sentenced to seven years probation, including a year in jail, in Rock County Court on Thursday. James N. Davis, 50, of 811 Hyatt St., Janesville, pleaded guilty in a plea agreement to three counts of possession of child pornography.

Rock County responds to single vehicle traffic fatality

On Tuesday June 13, at 11:02 a.m., Deputies from the Rock County Sheriff's Office and the Janesville Fire and EMS responded to a single vehicle crash on W. State Highway 11 just east of Kesseler Road. Initial reports indicated a Buick Lucerne hit a tree, and the driver and sole occupant was pinned in the vehicle.

Water, fire damage Janesville house

An unoccupied house on the near west side sustained $30,000 damage from a pipe leak and an electrical problem late Wednesday night, the Janesville Fire Department reported. Firefighters were called at 11:33 p.m. to 103 Union St. and found smoke coming from the eaves of the two-story, wood-frame house, according to a news release.

Two die in Friday night crash

A man from Janesville and a woman from Evansville died in a two-vehicle crash Friday on Highway 14 in the Dane County town of Rutland. Brian T. Schulze, 34, of Janesville, and Jacqueline J. Holland, 25, of Evansville, were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to a Wednesday news release from the Dane County Medical Examiner's Department.

Plea is guilty in traffic homicide

The woman accused of driving drunk and causing the death of a Lake Geneva woman two years ago would not go to prison under the terms of a plea agreement announced Wednesday in Rock County Court. Mackenzi S. Adams, 22, of 1532 Ontario Drive, Janesville, pleaded guilty Wednesday to a charge of homicide by intoxicated driving in the chain-reaction crash on Interstate 90/39 on June 13, 2015.

Shooting suspect still at large

Police on Wednesday still were looking for a suspect in a Sunday-night shooting on the near west side, and they were still looking for the public's help in the case. Lt. Terry Sheridan of the detective bureau said police had no definite information about the location of their only suspect, Anthony T. Gibson, 32, of 1310 Townline Ave., Beloit.

Janesville man pleads guilty in Riverside Park drunken-driving death

A Janesville man pleaded guilty in Rock County Court on Wednesday in a drunken-driving death in Janesville's Riverside Park on Nov. 10. Michael A. Perry, 72, of 618 Sunset Drive pleaded guilty to homicide by intoxicated driving in the death of Christopher Rabuck, 37, of Janesville. Perry also pleaded no contest to a Janesville municipal citation for first-offense intoxicated driving, which occurred about a month earlier, on Oct. 14. Judge Michael Haakenson fined Perry $1,050 for that offense, along with a nine-month license revocation and one-year ignition interlock, at the request of Janesville Assistant City Attorney Tim Wellnitz.
